Bouddhanath is one of holiest site for Buddhist pilgrims situated in Kathmandu. the stupa's massive mandala makes it one of the largest spherical stupa in Nepal. There are about 30 gompas in the area of Bouddhanath like Sakyapa gompa, Gelugpa gompa, Kargyukpa gompa etc.
